Shoot Like a Girl was created by Kate Stewart after she noticed a glaring gap in the military podcast space: plenty of shows hosted by men, but very few that centered the voices of women in uniform. Having served in the Canadian Armed Forces since 2008 in demanding and often non-traditional roles—including naval diving, maritime tactical operations, advanced instruction, and the CAF Parachute Team—Kate understands firsthand the skill, resilience, and leadership women bring to defence. Her own journey, shaped by ambitious goals, inspired her to build a platform where those stories could finally be heard.
Launched in 2020, Shoot Like a Girl features candid conversations with extraordinary military women from around the world who are pushing boundaries on and off duty. Through honest storytelling and hard-earned lessons, the podcast challenges stereotypes, amplifies underrepresented voices, and encourages the next generation of women to dream big, aim high, and pursue careers in defence—even when the path feels intimidating.
